New archaeological discoveries between the valleys of the Quaderna and Idice rivers and new considerations on the topography of the Roman city of Claterna allow today to retrace more than 50 years of research of a circumstantial nature on the route of the via Flaminia minor in the eastern Bolognese Apennines, definitively distinguishing it from a second road from the imperial age, called “Claudia”, which connected Bononia with Florentia. The recognition of the road out of Claterna and the discovery of an ancient bridge and imposing remains of paving along the Quaderna valley and between the Idice and the Zena lead to a definitive hypothesis on the branches of its layout in the direction of Bononia.
