In the county of Gorizia, belonging to the Habsburg Empire, during the 17th century there were not active printing presses and the production of printed texts was commissioned to printers operating in nearby cities, especially in Udine, in the Republic of Venice. Now, the discovery of a book dated 1688 has allowed us to pay close attention to an unknown peculiarity of the ancient printing production for readers living in Gorizia. This book includes the Fascetto di mirra, a collection of prayers and regulations published in Udine at the printing press of Francesco Schiratti for the Jesuit congregation of dying Jesus Christ crucified, active in Gorizia in the church of St. Ignatius of Loyola; to this, Schiratti added another Jesuit text, the Litanie della passione di Giesu Christo, used in the same church and published in Ljubljana by the printer Jožef Tadej (or Joseph Tadeus) Mayr. It is not clear whether this book is the result of two distinct printing orders or it was published thanks to an agreement between Schiratti and Mayr. In any case, this Jesuit book is a very uncommon example of ancient edition printed at the same time in Friuli and in Slovenia, which could suggest new research paths about the book history among Venetian Friuli, Austrian Friuli and Carniola.
