Augustae in the Age of the Soldatenkaiser: The Case of Herennia Etruscilla
The paper focuses on the analysis of epigraphic and numismatic evidence on Herennia Etruscilla, the wife of the emperor Trajan Decius. The study will be conducted by comparing the official representation of the Augusta, which can be deduced from imperial coinage, and its reception by the community, as evidenced by inscriptions and provincial coinage. A comparison will be also made with the documentation known for Otacilia Severa, the wife of the emperor Philip the Arab.
