Una difficoltà ha trovato Alfonso Traina nella sua bella versione della pascoliana Crepereia Tryphaena rendendo nefas del v. 38 (Poem. et Ep. 82) non più con «o crudeltà!» della prima scrittura, ma con «o abominio!», giacché egli voleva assolutamente trovare una parola che insieme fosse negativa e sacrale. Mia intenzione qui è rimuovere il non felice «o abominio!» e confermare invece la primitiva «o crudeltà!», e nel contempo mettere in luce, movendo dal contesto, una ‘opposizione’ sfuggita a tutti i traduttori, me compreso, e inoltre alcune tecniche del Pascoli, assai sottili e seducenti, che hanno interessato perfino il maestro della critica strutturalistica Roman Jakobson. Alfonso Traina has met some difficulty in his beautiful version of Pascoli’s Crepereia Tryphaena translating nefas in v. 38 (Poem. et Ep. 82) not any more with «o crudeltà!» as it was in the first writing, but with «o abominio!», since he really wanted to find a word that was negative and sacred at the same time. My purpose here is to remove the not proper «o abominio!» to confirm instead the original «o crudeltà!», and, starting from the context, highlight at the same time an “opposition” that all translators, myself included, did not notice, and besides some of Pascoli’s techniques that drew even the master of structuralist criticism Roman Jakobson.
