This paper presents the results of some first surveys on an unpublished and almost unknown translation of De Rerum Natura, composed after 1721 – the year of printing of the Comino edition of Lucretius on which the author claimed to have based it – and for the first time reported in 1899 by Luigi Cisorio: a translation in verse, of all six books, contained in a manuscript of unknown origin kept since 1872 at the State Library of Cremona (ms. 132). In this paper the identity of the author of the vulgarization is investigated, hidden behind a pseudonym; a more detailed dating of the text is offered; a hypothesis is formulated about the nature of the translation and the intentions that guided it.
