Science and technology are moving forward at increasing speed, raising every day new phylosophical questions, the most pressing being those regarding ethics. This is particularly relevant for sciences that affect human nature itself, as robotics and neuroengineering. We present here two case studies: the debate among Google’s employees about the company’s collaborations with US Department of Defense, and the attempt of the drummer Jason Barnes to become the owner of the neuroprosthetic robotic arm that Georgia Tech University developed for him. The first case shows how the issue of the dual use of technology applies to algorithms, the second one highlights the presence of ethical questions specific to the aforementioned novel sciences. Keywords: Algorithms, Ethics, Neuroengineering, Robotics, Professional ethics.
