The purpose of this article is to highlight how Cicero’s speech pro Aulo Cluentio Habito (66 BC) may have influenced Livy’s account about the Bacchanalian affair (Liv. 39,8-19) that happened in Rome in 186 BC. The analysis of characters, narratives and similarities between the two texts opens to the possibility that the narration may depend on Cicero. Keywords: Cicero, pro Cluentio, Sassia, Livy, Bacchanalia.
