Libanius, Saturninus Secundus Salustius and the stormy post-Julian years

Libanius’ epistolary reconstructs the relationship between the orator of Antioch and Saturninus Secundus Salustius, a great official in the service of several emperors in the early Sixties of the IV century AD. It is followed from its beginnings in the years of Julian to the progressive eclipse of Salustius’ power after Procopius’ usurpation in the early years of the Valentinians’ reign.
